From my bookshelf to yours, here’s the June reading recap.

Nothing is quite as great as finishing another book on the TBR list. Every month, I like to recap on the books I finished. I am an avid GoodReads user, and rate all the books I read on their scale. They utilize a 5-star rating system, so I will be rating all my books on a 5-star scale. Now, I am a slow reader. I also have a full-time job, go to the gym regularly, and try my best to have a social life. A lot of readers will blow me out of the water with how much they read, and that is okay. It does not matter how much or how little you read. It doesn’t matter if you don’t read at all. All that matters is that you do what you love without comparing yourself to others. I want to use this blog to share things I love, and reading is one of those things ❤

The Butcher’s Masquerade (Dungeon Crawler Carl #5)– Matt Dinniman

If you haven’t joined the DCC cult, you’re missing out BIG TIME. I cannot talk about these books enough. I started the series at the beginning of the year, and every single book captures my attention immediately and engulfed my into the DCC universe. Book 5 affected me just as deeply as the four books before it. I don’t want to dive too deep into reviewing this book, because I do not want to spoil any of the previous books for those who have not read them yet. Carl and Princess Donut never fail to shock me. I recommend this series to any person who will listen to me.

Animal Farm– George Orwell

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this. Every review of this book calling it a classic and a must-read is 100% correct. For a book that was written in the early 1940s, its message and relevance have withstood the passing of time. It is an alarming book to read. With each chapter, you get more and more frustrated with the animals. However, you can never quite let go of the idea that they truly are just animals. That thought alone makes me even more frustrated! Orwell created a timeless piece, although I wish that this book would no longer hold a relevant message. Anyone and everyone should read this book at least once in their lives. The short book holds so much knowledge and understanding that everyone can take away something from it. The strongest book recommendation I could ever make.

The Eye of the Bedlam Bride (Dungeon Crawler Carl #6)– Matt Dinniman

I am maybe a third of the way through this book. When anything is 700+ pages, it is going to take me a while. Tune in next month to see how I rate this one 🙂

I am sure you guys sensed the theme this month: dystopian. It is a genre I love, but not the only genre I read. I promise next month will have a little bit more variety for you. There is a horror book next on my list, and I think I want to sneak a romance in next month as well. Circle back on August 1st to see what I read this July.
